1. Your journey from a 21-year-old NIFT graduate to the founder of Curl Care is truly inspiring. What sparked the idea to create a brand dedicated to curly and wavy hair care?

Ans. The idea for Curl Care stemmed from my own journey of embracing my natural curls after years of subjecting them to chemical treatments. Growing up, I realized the lack of proper curly hair care products and services in India despite 60% of the population having textured hair. My personal challenges and the absence of suitable solutions motivated me to fill this gap by creating a brand that caters exclusively to curly and wavy hair. Curl Care was born to celebrate natural textures and empower individuals to embrace their curls confidently.

2. Curl Care is more than just a brand; it’s a movement encouraging people to embrace their natural curls. What challenges did you face while introducing this concept to the Indian market?

Ans. One of the biggest challenges was shifting perceptions about curly hair. For years, societal beauty standards favored straight, sleek hair, making it difficult for people to embrace their natural curls. Educating customers about the importance of curl-specific care and creating a supportive community was a key part of our journey. Additionally, finding and training stylists who specialize in textured hair was a significant hurdle, but we overcame this by prioritizing education and skill development at our salons.

3. Your products are known for being CG-friendly and free of synthetic additives. Can you share the research and development process behind creating such high-quality, organic formulations?

Ans. Our R&D process starts with a deep understanding of the structure and needs of curly hair. Curly hair tends to be drier and more prone to frizz, so our formulations focus on hydration, nourishment, and frizz control using natural ingredients. We avoid synthetic additives to ensure our products are gentle yet effective. It’s a meticulous process of trial and error, testing every formula to ensure it enhances curl definition, promotes shine, and maintains hair health. Our goal is to offer products that not only address common challenges but also celebrate natural curls.

4. Curl Care salons offer personalized services tailored to individuals with curly and wavy hair. How do these salons differentiate themselves in the competitive haircare and salon industry?

Ans. Curl Care salons are designed exclusively for textured hair, which sets us apart from traditional salons. We also prioritize education, offering personalized consultations to teach clients how to care for their curls at home. The focus isn’t just on delivering treatments but on creating an empowering experience where clients leave with confidence and knowledge about their hair.

5. As a young entrepreneur and trailblazer, what advice would you give to aspiring businesswomen, especially those looking to create niche brands like Curl Care?

Ans. My advice is to stay authentic to your vision and purpose. Niche brands often address underserved markets, so focus on solving real problems and creating value for your audience. Build a community around your brand, listen to feedback, and adapt as needed. Lastly, believe in yourself and your idea—it’s your passion and perseverance that will drive success, even in the face of challenges.

6. What’s next for Curl Care? Are there plans for expanding the product line, launching new salons, or exploring international markets?

Ans. We’re excited about the future of Curl Care. Expanding our product line to cater to more specific curl needs is a priority. We’re also planning to open more salons across India and eventually in international markets where textured hair care is in demand. Our ultimate goal is to make Curl Care a global brand, spreading our curl-positive message and empowering people worldwide to embrace their natural textures.
